Letter From the Principal August 27, 2010
Dear School Families,
Another year is upon us and once again God has abundantly blessed us! We would like to warmly welcome the addition of five new teachers this year to St. Mary of the Lake. • Mrs. Colleen Dodd is teaching Kindergarten. Mrs. Dodd comes to St. Mary’s with an excitement and enthusiasm that our young Kindergarteners will find contagious! Welcome, Mrs. Dodd! • Miss Kate Szczypka, who was our full time sub last year for first grade, is now with us as full time first grade teacher for the 2010-2011 school year. Miss Szczypka brings love and compassion into every aspect of educating our first graders! Welcome, Miss Szczypka! • Mrs. Jennifer Bardusk is teaching third grade here at St. Mary’s. Mrs. Bardusk’s experienced teaching skills in addition to her love of our Catholic faith will make every day of third grade a truly rounded educational experience. Welcome, Mrs. Bardusk! • Miss Lindsey Wilson is teaching fifth grade. Miss Wilson’s energy and attention to detail along with her fire for the Catholic faith will truly make fifth grade an amazing experience! Welcome, Miss Wilson. • Mr. Greg Geyer is teaching music for all students in grades K – 8 this year! Mr. Geyer, a retired teacher from Michigan City, has been the Music Director at St. Mary of the Lake Church for many years, and we are so very fortunate that all of our students will get to share and learn from this very talented educator. Welcome, Mr. Geyer!
Miss Kathleen Kelly elected not to stay on as Principal for the 2010-2011 school year. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors and thank her for her service. Miss Annmarie D’Anza, our vice-principal, and myself as Pastor will fill in as Interim Principals until our search for a Principal is completed. The search for Principal is in progress with a St. Mary’s search committee in place as this letter is written. Your prayers and support throughout this process are greatly appreciated.

Forty-five years ago, dedicated, hard working, faith filled parishioners sacrificed their time, talents and resources to open St. Mary of the Lake School. May we continue to honor their efforts and all the many good people who have sustained our mission of offering an excellent, Christ centered Catholic education to the children of this and surrounding communities in both Michigan and Indiana! We look forward to a wonderful school year!
In His love,
Father Craig Lusk St. Mary of the Lake Parish Pastor Interim Principal
