The 8th Grade trip to Washington D.C. is May 18-May 21 2010. For the second year, St. Mary of the Lake School has the priviledge of laying a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier!    

VFW Patriot's Pen Essay Contest

Patriot's Pen, a youth-essay writing contest is a nationwide competition that gives students in grades 6,7 and 8 the opportunity to write essays expressing their views on democracy. Annually, more than 115,000 students participate in the contest.

Modern Woodmen of America Speech Contest
St. Mary of The Lake School
In 1948, Modern Woodmen of America developed this contest to offer midddle school students an opportunity to develop skills in clear thinking and public speaking. Today, it is an important event in schools across the nation. Students develop lifelong skills by preparing and giving a three- to five-minute speech for this contest, participants learn skills that will help with school projects, job interviews and even careers.  Dates to follow.
